Our food for thought: It’s all about the food!
Malton is synonymous with good food, crowning itself as "Yorkshire's Food Capital". The Talbot Hotel and York House are proud to be at the centre of this, boasting a 2 AA Rosette Restaurant, the informal Malton Brasserie, and the Malton Cookery School.
Naturally, our menus have a distinctively Yorkshire flavour as we use local produce sourced from as close as across the road in Talbot Yard, but as with every aspect of your experience with us, we can tailor your menu to your needs. Keep reading to see some of our suggestions, and scroll to the bottom of this page if you really want to give us a challenge!
All of our food outlets are managed by Head Chef, Dan Graham. Dan is a former BBC Master Chef: The Professionals finalist, and current Craft Guild of Chef's member, so you're in good hands. Dan's career has taken him the length and breadth of the country, including training under Michel Roux Jnr at Le Gavroche where, he says, he was transformed from being a good chef to a great chef.
Meet the chef
"It was an honour to meet and subsequently work with Michel Roux Jnr at Le Gavroche after competing in Master Chef: The Professionals. I was runner-up in the television competition, but apparently Michel Roux Jnr liked what he saw as, he offered me a job at his London restaurant soon after!"

The traditional three-course wedding breakfast has a delightfully formal feel for your big day. Together with our wedding planner and head chef, you can create your own bespoke three-course menu for you and your guests. This style of menu is included in our "Essential Wedding" and "Classic Wedding" packages complete with tea and coffee after your meal.
Keep it Yorkshire
Forget the formal, remember back to those festive family dinners; great company, uncomplicated food cooked perfectly, vegetables shared around the table, Yorkshire portions of meat and potatoes (we don't want you to have to ask for more!) and plenty of drink flowing. The "Yorkshire Wedding" package includes a traditional roast for your main course, and we'll even carve the meat at your table.
If you want a relaxed day, then we can offer an informal dining experience for you and your guests, allowing you to enjoy a meal without standing on ceremony. Our "Yorkshire Wedding" package includes a sharing platter starter of artisan breads, local cheese and delicious meats and chutneys for everyone to try. Perfectly in-keeping with a vintage style wedding in the York House Marquee.
If you have an idea in mind for your wedding menus, we'd love to hear it! It's your big day not ours, so we will do our utmost to meet your wishes. We have an excess of wonderful ingredients right on our doorstep, from seafood from the Yorkshire Coast, to THE best ice cream made opposite the Talbot Hotel, so were sure we can source and create something that is exclusively yours. Go on, give us a challenge!
